Women in Sport celebrates the success of the tough, bold and fearless women who paved the way for today’s athletes. The sportswomen featured include well-known figures like tennis player Serena Williams and broadcaster Clare Balding, as well as lesser-known pioneers like Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to swim the English Channel, and Keiko Fukuda, the highest-ranked female judoka in history.
From the creator of the bestselling Women in Science, this richly illustrated book highlights the achievements and stories of fifty notable sportswomen from the 1800s to today, including trailblazers, Olympians and record-breakers in more than forty sports. It also contains infographics on topics such as muscle anatomy, pay and media statistics for female athletes, and influential women’s teams.

Women in Sport is a sensational successor to last year's Women in Science...women who trained and competed with grit are celebrated in this beautiful compendium.
A sensational successor to last year's Women in Science.
It's a gorgeous book, full of top notch production values. The text is clear and concise but full of interesting details. The illustrations are bold and impactful and bright and busy and, above all, exciting. All the women look wonderfully powerful. Such care has been taken that Women in Sport is a book you'll return to over and over again. I hope it inspires a whole new generation of girls to take up sport and succeed in it.
Stunningly illustrated and illuminating stories about inspiring athletes.
So many women's achievements in sport have been overlooked in favour of men's over the years, so it's a great pleasure to see these 50 women celebrated in this marvellous follow up to Rachel Ignotofsky's Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World...The text is engaging and factual, represented clearly and with a focus on inspiring and empowering readers. It's great that we're now seeing these specialised, themed women collections, and exciting that children's knowledge is being expanded to include so many strong and fearless athletes.
Inspirational.
