Summer has arrived in the Cornish town of Mount Polbearne and Polly Waterford couldn’t be happier. Because Polly is in love: she’s in love with the beautiful seaside town she calls home, she’s in love with running the bakery on Beach Street, and she’s in love with her boyfriend, Huckle.
And yet there’s something unsettling about the gentle summer breeze that’s floating through town. Selina, recently widowed, hopes that moving to Mount Polbearne will ease her grief, but Polly has a secret that could destroy her friend’s fragile recovery. Responsibilities that Huckle thought he’d left behind are back and Polly finds it hard to cope with his increasingly long periods of absence.
Polly sifts flour, kneads dough and bakes bread, but nothing can calm the storm she knows is coming: is Polly about to lose everything she loves?

Colgan's combination of escapism and humour creates a relaxing read
This delightful novel will make you feel warm inside - it makes a fab Mother's Day gift ****
The follow-up to Little Beach Street Bakery sees graphic designer-turned-artisan baker Polly dealing with a series of major setbacks. Her tenancy is under threat and financial problems mean she faces life without her boyfriend. The plot isn't the most realistic, but Colgan brings a dramatic edge to the genre.
Cheery and heart-warming escapism
We love Jenny Colgan's books, but Little Beach Street Bakery is definitely one of our favourites, utterly charming, atmospheric and brilliantly written it will captivate you and keep you totally absorbed until the very end. We loved it! HIghly recommended!
This book should come with a warning label: it may well inspire you to chuck it all in and start a bakery in a remote location. If you are anything like us, you will devour the descriptions of beautiful Cornwall... Like any good bread, this will fill you up and make you smile.
This sunny read will make you feel drenched in vitamin D until the real thing comes along... There are lots of books about women moving to the country and starting again, but Colgan's fishing village feels real, the characters are funny and the dilemmas genuine.
